Rediscover the Bible in an entertaining and delightful way in the study book, Heaven to Gain and Hell to Shun by Doreen Rose. Easily become acquainted with the Bible as a whole book, instead of individual verses. Beginning with life on earth in Genesis, and finishing with the end of life as we know it in Revelation, this study guide will help keep the reader engaged and on track. Breaking down the books of the Bible, by simple concepts such as the theme, main characters, key thoughts, and key verses, it simplifies the way one regards the Bible. With illustrated timelines, each book is plotted out with a definition at the beginning of every book summary. Complete with visual cues that correspond with the verses, this book is great for adults and children alike.

Heaven to Gain and Hell to Shun by Doreen Rose is a colorfully illustrated guide that takes you on a thrilling biblical journey. A blend of graphics and scriptures are artistically depicted, captivating both student and teacher. The layout is impressive and the book concludes by seamlessly applying verses to doctrine and thought-provoking questions dealing with faith, sanctity, and salvation. Created from Pastor Phil West's sermons from the late 1990s, I appreciated how user-friendly and accessible the formatting is; it is flawlessly organized. Although I am very well-acquainted with the Bible and its teachings, I found it to be informative and illuminating. I would have loved to have this when my children were young as a family study guide. This stunning book would be an excellent addition to a Bible School or Sunday School class and will engage readers of all ages. This is an amazing book! I am impressed with every aspect of it.

This is a book with an appeal to readers of all ages, one of the best books I have read on Bible study, and the colorful illustrations just make it terrific. Each page features meaningful images, colors, and diagrams, each containing a message that is as relevant as it is well-articulated. Have you ever asked yourself the question, who is God? What does he expect from us? What does it truly mean to be Christian? We have all read some sections of the Bible, but why was it written - to inspire us, bring us enlightenment, to draw us closer to God, or is it simply a biography? All of these questions and many more will be answered in the extensive manual, Heaven to Gain and Hell to Shun by Doreen Rose. Each book of the Bible is studied and explained in simple terms regarding the background of the stories, the principle messages, and teachings. Discover the characteristics and backgrounds of the prophets, complete with detailed biblical quotations and illustrations throughout; your relationship with your faith and God will be transformed completely. Your wisdom and comprehension of God's kindness and all-powerful presence will inspire you to open your heart and mind to the ultimate spiritual enlightenment.

Heaven to Gain and Hell to Shun by Doreen Rose is definitely a book that needed to be written. For everyone that has become disillusioned with the teachings of Christianity because they cannot grasp the meaning behind the scriptures, this is a must-read for you. I loved how each book of the Old and New Testaments are broken down into summaries of the key themes and messages. I can finally understand why the Bible is such a cornerstone of Christianity. The messages are powerful, profound, and insightful. I thought the explanation into the book of Revelation was so captivating, as were the books of Timothy 1 and 2 - the teachings will considerably help anyone to advance their spiritual journey.

Every question I have ever asked myself and others regarding Christianity has been answered. The section on the afterlife and Heaven was so comforting. I thought the statement regarding how mankind's concept of time on earth is often placed before his concept of God was one of the most thought-provoking statements. With so much information and knowledge in this guide, it should be in every church leader's and organization's book collection. This prayer from the book is an absolute golden nugget: 'Who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you faultless, before the presence of His glory, with great joy, to the only God, our Saviour, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Be glory, majesty, dominion, and authority, before all time, now and forever. Amen.'

Heaven to Gain and Hell to Shun by Doreen Rose is written for those who want to understand, love, and share God’s word. In this book, the author explores a variety of themes, starting from the definition of the Bible, why it was written, how to read it, and a summary of each book with themes like the true meaning of the “fear of God,” heaven as God’s dwelling, the meaning of death, the power of faith and its place in the economy of salvation, sanctification, end times, the judgment, and our individual response to God’s invitation to salvation.

Doreen Rose presents the Bible as the “love letter written by God to me,” and in a style that is simple and straightforward, she helps readers to uncover the many gems and hidden treasures of God’s word. The author takes the reader on a journey that makes for a wonderful encounter with God and with Jesus. It is written in a unique style, with colorful illustrations and images filling every page. The use of different colors also helps readers to understand and contextualize the different segments in the writing.

This book serves as reference material for Bible study and as a guide to an authentic spiritual life. While it highlights the message of the Bible, it also provides a road-map to heaven. I finally found a book I can share with my nine-year-old daughter, who finds the illustrations impeccable. Heaven to Gain and Hell to Shun is one of those devotional and inspirational books that everyone should have in their home. It is rich in its content and appealing in the way it is formatted.

Heaven to Gain and Hell to Shun is a work of non-fiction that recollects a series of church services by the Reverend Phil West and was penned by author Doreen Rose. Adapting the ideas and ideals of the 9-month series of speeches, the author has created a full summary of the Christian Bible with references to scripture and key messages from every book and its central characters. The book also offers a breakdown of many central points of discussion with interpretations and collated material from different Bible areas that speak to those topics, for example on sanctification, Heaven, death, and the idea of Judgement Day.

Author Doreen Rose has crafted a true labor of love in this ambitious project which delivers a detailed and intense overview of the Bible for Christians to read and study. I liked the feel of the work as a kind of a textbook, with helpful color-coded sections to draw attention to specific works, as well as illustrations that bring the content to life and good use of formatting for key points. For devoted persons who wish to connect their reading experience to their own Bible, the classification and reference system for different quotes and ideas is really well laid out and easy to use. Doreen Rose gives plenty of credit where it is due to the ideas incorporated into the work, but it is in collation and organization of these ideas where the book triumphs in its own right. Overall, Heaven to Gain and Hell to Shun will no doubt be a useful and essential read to Christians everywhere.
