Hello Anxiety, My Old Friend: Harness Your Invisible Superpower by Natalie Kohlhaas gives anxiety a whole new, unique outlook. Kohlhaas has over twenty plus years as a licensed therapist and counselor working closely with clients with anxiety. She also takes us intimately through her eight medical miracles in life, battling the many complications she had with cancer. She helps the reader to reframe their perception of anxiety. Instead of treating anxiety as an enemy, people can treat it as their friend who is guiding them away from fear. Anxiety is a protective mechanism for survival that has been passed on to us from our ancestors. Fear is the real enemy that wants to keep people hidden away from living life to the fullest. People can reprogram their brains and thinking to make anxiety work for them.

Natalie Kohlhaas successfully guides the reader to take control of their anxiety slowly by changing their mindsets of how they think about it. I like that she emphasizes that we are not our feelings or thoughts; that we are the ones in charge. Her numerous analogies really hit home to make me comprehend more deeply that when we are aware of our thoughts, we can make anxiety work for us and can stop playing the brain games that lead us to fear. I now better understand anxiety and how to make it work for me in my life. Hello Anxiety, My Old Friend is highly recommended for everyone to take back control over their lives.
