Hex, Love, and Rock & Roll by Kat Turner is the first book in the Coven Daughters series. Helen Schrader is desperate. Her bank account is empty, and her business is about to fold, leading her to do something she swore she would never do: have an abundance spell performed. But she gets more than she bargained for when the spell awakens her magic. Inexperienced with magic, she accidentally casts a hex on Brian Shepherd, her celebrity crush, and the harder they try to break the hex, the worse it gets, especially as they fall for each other. But a power-hungry cult stands in their way, and time is running out for Brian and Helen to beat the hex before it consumes Brian. Will they get there in time? Do Brian and Helen have a future?
As the first in a series, Hex, Love, and Rock & Roll by Kat Turner is a great start, and if the rest of the series carries on in the same vein, it’s a definite winner. This is entirely different from your normal witch stories; with romance, humor, and a klutzy witch who keeps making mistakes, you are in for a humorous, romantic ride with dark undertones. I loved this story; the action was nonstop, with lots of suspense and wonderful characters. The main protagonists, Helen and Brian, are perfect for each other, developed and real people with real-life problems, each having a backstory that helps you understand who they are. With lots of twists and turns, this story will keep you guessing throughout. It is fast-paced, so hang on to your pointy hats as this debut novel takes you on the ride of your life, a chaotic journey that will have you champing to read the next story.
