What would you do if you woke up without any memory of who you are? In Between Rooms by Adrian M. Mompoint is the story of a woman who experiences that phenomenon. The story begins as she’s waking up. She’s somewhere she doesn’t recognize, and she can’t remember who she is. At first, everything about the place seems normal, but soon something feels very wrong. She starts getting increasingly frightened and confused as rooms change, strangers call her Mirah, and mysterious objects appear out of nowhere. As her memories return, they hint at something painful. Each new tidbit seems to push her closer to learning the truth. What has Mirah forgotten? And are some things better left in the past?

Once I started In Between Rooms by Adrian M. Mompoint, I couldn’t put it down. The apartment itself was almost like another character. Because it was always changing, I never knew what to expect, and neither did Mirah. This short story had a quick pace and a tension that built and built until it finally snapped. I think it was smart that the mystery was revealed through small clues rather than everything at once. Mirah’s journey made me want to keep reading to learn more about her and the events that shaped her life. There’s a good mix of psychology, suspense, and emotion that creates a slightly creepy vibe, while also giving the audience someone to care about. I’m sure readers will not see the ending coming, which is always fun. Fans of psychological thrillers and stories that explore memory, trauma, and self-discovery will want to pick this one up.
