Jim Turner's life has encountered a stumbling block. His job at the Times has become stale, and he is experiencing writer's block. Seeking a fresh start, he informs Seth, his editor at the Times, that he intends to leave for Mountain Groves, where he will continue a quest his grandfather did not finish. Seth arranges a job for him in that location, interviewing a suspected war criminal who fled Hitler's Germany. Jim's attempt to balance his work and find the perfect love story leads him into a maelstrom of lies, deceit, and a dead body, with the only connection among them being Chastity, a mysterious woman for whom Jim has fallen. Only time will tell if Jim can connect the dots before he becomes collateral damage in Colleen L. Donnelly's I Have A Story.

In I Have A Story, Colleen L. Donnelly intertwines romance with a murder mystery set during the early stages of the Second World War. Jim's thorough explanation of his working relationship with Seth and his grandfather's influence on his writing creates an in-depth origin story that readers can relate to. The dialogue is mainly lighthearted, except when Jim interacts with his love interest, where it quickly devolves into goofy chaos. The pacing gradually intensifies as the narrative unfolds. The highlight of the narrative is the romantic triangle involving Jim, Chastity, and her fiancé, with confrontations charged with tension as the men resort to unconventional tactics to win the lady's heart. Donnelly masterfully weaves these elements into an entertaining mystery that will immerse romance genre enthusiasts from start to finish.
