In the town of Neither Here nor There you will find the strangest characters, from witches who hate the elderly to brave animals helping to save others and a pig who has just escaped being slaughtered. The town, however, is under the strict rule of Sheriff Queen Baldwin. She is a cruel tyrant who is about to learn a valuable lesson from a young boy called Jorge. In Jorge, the Trumpeter by José Potter, follow Jorge's adventures as he learns some important life lessons along the way from the characters he meets. Discover how Jorge learned that facing his fears was not scary at all; in fact, he discovers the benefits of trying new things. Jorge also learns that thinking happy thoughts and being kind is more powerful than any enemy he faces.

Jorge, the Trumpeter by José Potter is such a delightful adventure novel with amazing characters that every child is going to adore. The illustrations are quirky with plenty of scope for discussion between the child and adult. There are phrases in Spanish but this just adds another educational aspect to the story. The messages throughout the story are subtle but very powerful. The lessons of sharing, caring for others, working as a team, and caring for the planet are just some of the messages entwined into this brilliant adventure story. I loved the characters and place names; they were extremely funny. The dialogue was clever and filled with inspirational messages for children. This is the perfect book for any school library to help children aspire to their dreams and goals and not be limited by fear.
