In Kidnapped in the Woods by Deena Alexander, Rachael Davenport, a journalist, has gone stealthily into the woods in search of a young woman being held captive in a cabin. In the darkness, she creeps in and rescues the girl, Jane, but it won’t be an easy task to get the girl out unseen. The pair rush through the woods, trying to find their way to Rachael’s car. Blocked by their pursuers, they go in another direction and find another cabin. An unsuspecting Pat Ryan, a firefighter who has taken refuge in the woods for peace and quiet, is startled when the two women burst through his front door. Pat and his K-9 rescue dog, Shadow, are now in the middle of it all. Gunshots are fired at the cabin and Pat’s car is destroyed to prevent their escape. Amid the chaos, Rachael is having a hard time knowing who she can trust. Pat and Rachael must rely on each other as they try to get Jane to safety, and they are all in a fight for their lives. With Patrick and Shadow’s help, Rachael and Jane flee through the woods. If they can survive the night, there just might be a chance.

Kidnapped in the Woods is a compelling story that keeps you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end, a riveting read from page one. The well-written, well-thought-out plot is full of intrigue and suspense, as well as heartfelt emotions that will tug at your heartstrings. The characters are believable and well-developed throughout. The plot is realistic and consistent with no gaps. Deena Alexander has delivered an inspiring, emotional, riveting, and exciting story that takes her readers on a journey with her characters as they deal with the terror and chaos of the night. When Rachael stumbles, we feel her fear and her pain. The author carries us into the woods for this adventure and it is worth the time spent taking the journey. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. An exciting story that I will read again and highly recommend.
