Can you think of anything more fun than a puppy? What about a puppy in a bow tie? Koda and the Polka-Dot Bow Tie by Andrea Jaimes is full of puppies, bow ties, and friendship. Koda the puppy loves to dress up in bow ties! He has all sorts of colors but his favorite is his red and white polka-dot bow tie. One day, Koda and his human leave the house, and Koda is dressed in his favorite bow tie. During their walk, Koda comes across many of his friends. Some he helps, others he admires and complements their accessories. Yet no one seems to take notice of Koda or his polka-dot bow tie. Will he be able to find someone who appreciates it as much as he does?

Koda and the Polka-Dot Bow Tie by Andrea Jaimes is truly a bright and engaging children’s book. The author made sure to use the full range of colors and illustrate the pages with many interesting events. The dogs were adorably animated and lovable. The author also used different font sizes and colors that are sure to catch kids’ eyes. At times, the book gave me a one-fish-two-fish vibe with all the colors and fonts sizes. The best part is certainly the message in the book. Young readers learn about kindness and friendship. It was very reflective of how a child may act at times. Overall, the book was well done and I’m sure elementary-aged kids are going to enjoy this short read.
