Legacy - Episode I: The Search for Love by Robert Maxxim is more than just a romance in a science fiction setting. Sarge was already in trouble, but that became unnecessary when he discovers Martian ruins and the essence of an intelligent civilization. Before he knows it, Sarge is living with Martians and forming a relationship with a stunning Martian woman who is his one true love and soul mate. She is his companion in his every life. However, things are not that simple. As Sarge falls more in love, his past comes back to haunt and taunt him. Sometimes, secrets are meant to be kept secret. What happens when you uncover them? Sarge may not be ready to face all the secrets that were withheld from him for a reason.
Somehow, Robert Maxxim is successful at mixing science fiction, romance, reincarnation, and spirituality. It shouldn’t work, it shouldn’t make sense, but the author is a master storyteller who makes it work together incredibly well. The narrative becomes a little philosophical at times (which may not be every reader’s cup of tea), but I thoroughly enjoyed it. I don’t particularly enjoy novels written in the first-person narrative, but this is a happy exception. The concept of the story is great and executed perfectly. Author Robert Maxxim gives us a colorful collection of characters, and all play an immense role in furthering the story. Legacy - Episode I: The Search for Love is not one of those stories you read in a single sitting. You need to sit down with a cup of tea and savor every single word. Fantastic!
