CP Schaefer’s Infinity Dreams follows Henry Bowman, an investigator called to a bombing at a New Mexico euthanasia center in 2048. Inside the ruined facility, Henry finds evidence of an experiment that leads him to Professor Marcus Emery, a physicist whose research has reached far beyond conventional ideas about death. Marcus believes the human brain leaves a temporal signature during its final moments, creating what he calls an infinity dream, and his latest technology may turn that instant into a doorway through time. Henry joins Bio-Ethics Committee member Selene Finley as they learn what Marcus has discovered and why he believes the invention could alter history. With one final experiment approaching, Henry must decide how far he is willing to go when the past itself becomes reachable.

CP Schaefer’s Infinity Dreams is fantastic time-travel science fiction, and the ideas behind the mechanics are brilliant. The technology is creative and fits organically into the world, especially when Chaco Canyon’s K-2 structure becomes part of an experiment through its circular stone design. I also love the characters. Chief, a Navajo park ranger, is my favorite, and his easygoing personality comes through perfectly. I had a good chuckle when a surveillance job still has Chief calmly drinking coffee in a café and deciding sunny-side eggs sounded good. The enormous possibilities of time travel are accessible through conversations that sound completely natural, even when the ideas get wonderfully ambitious. The pacing keeps moving as the scope widens into espionage across eras. Well-written and imaginative, readers who enjoy intelligent science fiction thrillers will adore this.

Infinity Dreams by CP Schaefer follows the story of FBI investigator Henry Bowman. Henry is called to investigate a bombing at a euthanasia center, only to discover a strange, high-tech room hiding something far stranger than a typical assisted death. The trail leads him and bioethics official Selene Finley to Dr. Marcus Emery, a scientist who's discovered that the phenomenon of your life flashing before your eyes at the moment of death is actually a real, traceable portal through time. Using Emery's invention, they're able to track people into their own dying memories. It isn't long before this small group of investigators finds themselves caught in an invisible, centuries-spanning war between a secret group of future humans trying to prevent an apocalypse and the Silent-Unseen, who believe that the apocalypse was always meant to happen. Pulled deeper into the timeline itself, they have to decide which future is worth fighting for. Should they pick the one that survives, or one that was always fated to burn?

Author CP Schaefer ensures that readers are fully immersed in this novel from the very beginning. It starts with a literal bang, and the momentum continues until the end. Henry is such a fantastic protagonist. He is sharp-minded, jaded, and a little world-weary. His fascination with what he uncovers kept me interested. The concept of dying memories as literal doorways through time is an incredibly original idea. I loved how methodically the book explains and builds on it without a technical jargon overload. Marcus Emery is such a fascinating character too. He is brilliant but is clearly hiding just as much as he's revealing. Infinity Dreams is a fantastic novel that will have you immersed and falling in love with it immediately. I cannot recommend it highly enough!

When Henry Bowman returned to his hometown, the last thing he expected was a case that would reopen painful old memories for him. What initially appears to be a bombing at the Mercy Euthanasia Center has the detective and his partner, Selene Finley, scrambling for clues. Their findings lead them to Professor Marcus Emery, an eccentric researcher on the verge of a scientific breakthrough. What they don't know is that their attempts to break the case will throw them into an interdimensional battle for survival between two groups fighting for Earth's future. Read along to discover what happens next in CP Schaefer's Infinity Dreams.

CP Schaefer uses Henry's reminiscences about his childhood tragedy to explain his interest in Professor Emery's work. This storytelling approach creates an emotionally charged origin story about Henry's motives, while still immersing readers in the narrative as they identify with the different factions. The dialogue shifts from scientific, when the narrative focuses on how the machines both factions use work, to detailed and strategic as Henry and Selene figure out the stakes of helping their new allies. Science fiction purists will appreciate the attention to detail in how the Professor's equipment works, with its relevance to the theoretical aspects of time travel. This balance creates a realistic novel that will make readers wonder if there is more to it than meets the eye. The author weaves these elements together using a graduated pace, intense action scenes, and a narrative style that equally emphasizes the action and the intrigue. Sci-fi enthusiasts will enjoy Infinity Dreams.
