Lost Pigeons is a slice-of-life drama by George Arau. Michael Foster and his brother Chris had been close since childhood. Always the more driven of the two, Chris was a star athlete in high school who joined the US Army after graduation. After a stint in Afghanistan, Chris returns home, wins the lottery, and marries a beautiful woman. However, he isn't the same person anymore, as his overseas tour has left him with PTSD that soon leads to his demise. Devasted by the loss of his older brother, Michael struggles to move on until he crosses paths with Ricky, a former real estate agent whose world turned upside down with the deaths of his new bride and his entire family in a tragic road accident. Can Michael help Ricky get his life back on track?

Lost Pigeons is a powerful story about loss, grief, and helping others find their way back after being thrown off the tracks by the chaotic events in one's life. Inspired by events in his own life, George Arau tells an emotionally moving tale bound to touch your heart. As this is primarily a character-driven drama, the plot is somewhat of a slow-burner. However, the characters carry the narrative forward and engage the reader until the end. Arau crafts some truly believable characters with human flaws and vulnerabilities that make them relatable to the reader. Overall, I was very much immersed in Michael and Ricky's story and will gladly recommend it to readers who savor emotionally resonant drama novels.
