Cancer has plagued the minds and lives of many people in the world. Most, however, have not the slightest clue on how to relay information or help the younger generations understand the topic. Movember with My Doggy by Angela Bucklaschuk is a book created by the author to help raise awareness and knowledge of cancer.

The boy in the story is very close to his pet dog, like most young children are. When he awoke from his bed one November morning to find his dog not curled up beside him, he realized that he had become very cold not having his pet's snuggly fur coat to keep him warm. He then began to wish he had more hair on his body like his pet dog, but thought it might look a little scary. When he went downstairs he found his parents and pet all in one room, and for the first time he realized his dad had a mustache. When he asked about his dad's mustache, he learned about something his family calls Movember. The boy decides he wants to be included in his family's special event in November so he and his dog work together to make that happen.

Author Angela Bucklaschuk has creatively and skillfully relayed an important message and knowledge concerning cancer through her endearing pictorial children's book. Children are often drawn to fun characters such as animals when reading their storybooks. By using a dog as a character in the book, Angela keeps the story light, fun, and captures the interest of young readers.
