Her investigation takes a supernatural turn when her long-lost twin, Orion, materializes to guide her through hidden dangers and a dark network of hostile forces. Will Cassie find the strength to outrun these ancient threats and bring her mother home safely?
Carla Beene’s The Twin Within is a compelling YA fantasy novel that treats themes of identity, resilience, and belonging with a lot of compassion. Beene really brings Santa Fe to life, using the vibrant local setting as a perfect backdrop for a fast-paced quest. Her writing style is warmest during the domestic scenes, where simple family moments like sharing music and stargazing create a cozy center that balances the escalating external dangers. Cassie is an inspiring main character who finds her real strength by combining her sharp mind with her personal vulnerabilities. It’s fascinating how Beene uses the concept of chimerism to mirror that deep-seated longing for a sibling and the unseen ties that keep families connected. By showing that family loyalty and a calm mind are the best tools against cruelty, the story gives you a clear understanding that our loved ones always stay with us on the inside. You should absolutely read this book if you love a magical journey centered on a family that stands by each other.
