Mrs. PJ Wigglesworth and the Kingfisher of Souls by MW Dutton is the second book in a series and is another exciting adventure for Penelope Wigglesworth. Two years have followed the epic showdown between Penelope and S.W.A.L.O.W. Penelope's DNA continues to change and the answers she receives aren't what she was hoping for. This time she's faced with the threat of the Kingfisher of Souls who has dire plans for all of birdkind. As she experiences strange dreams and an uncertain future, her closest allies and loved ones band together to help her.
MW Dutton delivers a unique story with a range of unusual characters, all of whom are birds and form their own fully-fledged society in this alternate reality where birds are at the top. Their society has several layers similar to a human one with various advancements including science, military, and even featuring the mention of Dove. Though some of their interactions are human-like, Dutton brings this world to life by weaving in bird-like references. A major part of the story revolves around Penelope's DNA which continues to evolve and now she's running out of time with no cure in sight. Dutton uses this revelation to boost the emotional aspects of the story as she, her parents and her husband have to process what this reality means for her future. Despite her condition, she continues to use her abilities to help others and to investigate this new threat which lands her into a great deal of trouble. Dutton weaves in action-packed moments and suspense similar to that of a thriller in Mrs. PJ Wigglesworth and the Kingfisher of Souls, which brings together adventure, conspiracy, and heart.
