Author Biography

Ami began writing poetry in the second grade and has developed
her craft over the years. This work is a collection of the poems she had written from ages 10 to 15.

The author is currently a student at the University of Alberta, pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree. In this collection, Ami Kalsi proves that behind a scientific mind lies a deep soul that appreciates nature and aims to spread positivity amidst the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Ami did not have a writing schedule for finishing this collection. She wrote whenever she was inspired to, whether it be while standing under a tree or while observing the shifting of the clouds. She rarely writes poetry when her emotions are not strong enough to produce an honest piece. Her poems are the unfiltered windows to her thoughts.

Musical Thoughts by Ami Kalsi is a collection of poems that share human experiences in their essence. From talking about human behavior to finding happiness even in the smallest of things, this collection shares human experiences and how some things have a great impact on our minds and bodies years after it happened. The message is incredibly positive and hopeful, how you should always be proud of what you have achieved and be hopeful about the future because you may even surprise yourself. Giggles of that Valley Girl is a sweet yet reminiscing poem that will take you back in time to that childhood innocence when everything was simple and pure. From there onwards, the author takes the reader on a journey of growth, of understanding, of experiences and of finding answers to questions that you don’t even know you had.

The poems are subtle, they are smooth and they are soft. However, all of this is an illusion. These poems hold a deeper meaning and I believe they will hold a different meaning for all of us. The experiences shared are very real and may seem insignificant, but a closer look will reveal that they are actually very simple things that we all go through. Ami Kalsi weaves a pretty picture and then invites you to take that picture apart one layer after the other and make your own meaning of it. My favorite poems were Trampoline, Smile… Always and One Day I; they all feel very personal to me and made me feel like the author shared my memory. Musical Thoughts by Ami Kalsi is an incredible collection, one that I will cherish for a long time.

No matter your age right now, if your eight-year-old self were to look at where you are now, would they be happy? This introspective question is what the author, Ami Kalsi, asks to set the stage in Musical Thoughts. This collection will create a space of reflection, acceptance and aha moments as you begin to eagerly read over twenty-five poems. Be prepared as you read A Lonely Tree, Truth of the World, An Unusual Dream and Soul to Mind because they are an example of the innocence, challenges and wonder that we once had during our youth when the simple things of life, dreams, and nature were our beacons of life and light.

I enjoyed these poems because I was able to discover in them hope, humanity, resilience and the music that was frequently sparked within my soul as I embraced them. The author's development of these poems reflects and provides me with a remembrance of those times when love and human kindness were essential. Just like me, the reader will be able to find their own favorites that they can relate to. "Rather than wishing for your goals… Wish for the strength to walk through the long journeys that you have planned for yourself," says Kaur. Imagine these words expressed by the author as you read the poems. You will begin to embark on a path of rediscovery, reevaluating the plans you've set for yourself and seeing your journey in a new light. Add Musical Thoughts by Ami Kalsi to your library today.

It is time to step back from the hustle and bustle of your chaotic world and reflect on what is truly important in life. Throughout this collection of poetry, Musical Thoughts by Ami Kalsi, you are invited to pause for a moment and appreciate the love and beauty around you. Each poem reflects on various aspects of human behavior, values, and beliefs and how these can be negatively affected; from reminding us that any goal or dream is possible, to the slow breakdown of family values, politeness and the dissipation of community spirit. By understanding how outside influences can affect your inner beliefs and thoughts, remember happiness and a smile can bring joy to others and yourself. Learn to love the world around you and the unique being that is you.

Reading this enchanting collection of poetry sparks deep self-reflection on your outlook on the world and your hopes and dreams. I found it difficult to choose my favorite poem as each had a unique message. In A Lonely Tree, you learn the importance of preserving nature for future generations; 'It told me how my great-grandfather played, And the story of an old man who sat on hay.' In Cheaters, we are reminded that many of us leave it too late to realize the importance of a work-life balance: 'They (men) are betrayed, and cheated often. Their happiness rests in a cemetery in a coffin.' The one poem that stood out for me was A Tree That Wanted To Grow Higher And... This was so inspirational and a huge motivator to strive for your dreams. Ami Kalsi's amazing ability to evoke emotions and contemplation is absolutely outstanding. I recommend you read each poem in Musical Thoughts several times so you are able to grasp the powerful message hidden within. There are important life lessons to be discovered in each poem.

Musical Thoughts: A Poetry To Ponder About is a work of collected poems told in a rhythmical style, and penned by author Ami Kalsi. Written as a means for the author to connect with the audience and help to provide them with an escape from the rush of modern life, this collection features poetry on many different themes, all of which bring an emotional mood to the table. Whether it is an exploration of the natural world, the emotional goings-on inside a person’s head or the ways in which we find ourselves falling into similar behaviors, there is always something deeply relatable to be found amongst the pages of this charming collection.

Author Ami Kalsi brings a youthful emotional power, optimism, and freshness to the work which is certainly lacking in some of the more old-fashioned writers in the poetic community, and I found her work to be a breath of fresh air because of it. One of my particular favorites was Trampoline, which is an excellent example of the energy and youth which is brought to the wordplay, and it also juxtaposes different ideas together well from both younger and older perspectives. Each work had its own unique charm, and there is a cultural quality to the structure of the English language that makes the phrasing feel authentic to the author’s own voice. Overall, Musical Thoughts: A Poetry To Ponder About delivers exactly as it promises and will suit poetry fans looking for something fresh and new.
