Author John D. Spooner is a well-traveled and highly successful business man whose grandchildren are obviously the apple of his eye. This book is a compilation of the letters he had sent to both of them while they were in their college years. He keeps the original and sends each a copy so that they get exactly the same letter most of the time. Mr. Spooner talks about everything with his loved ones. Money, financial planning, love and marriage, general philosophy and just plain observation of a guy who has lived life in depth are in his musings. The end of each letter has a summary that he calls "lessons".

I absolutely loved this book. My dearly departed grandfather told my siblings and me the same type of stuff as we grew up and also became adults. For the longest time, I thought my wise grandpa was sometimes just plain opinionated but now I come to realize that there was reason behind it all. It made me chuckle as the author, who reads for the audio book himself, says things almost exactly like my relative. Mr. Spooner's voice is smooth and friendly. It feels like listening to your grandpa talk from across the room. There is so much valuable information in this book that every reader should be able to learn from it. I can count at least five things that I will certainly do differently in my own life based on the author's wisdom. I highly recommend this book for everyone, teenagers and older ones. We all can learn something from this book!
