Princess Elsie Builds a Castle & Discovers the Magic of Engineering by Dr. Kelsey E Kirrene is an educational children’s picture book. Princess Elsie’s castle has been destroyed by a dragon but she and her Fairy God Engineer will put things right! Together, they work on designing the perfect castle, one that can’t be destroyed by another dragon. What materials will they use? How will they design their new home? Who else will they need to help them build their castle? Join Elsie as she undertakes a huge project. This book is part of a series that will hopefully help kids see that anyone can do anything they set their minds to, not just what’s expected of them but what they truly want to accomplish.

Princess Elsie Builds a Castle by Dr. Kelsey E Kirrene is fascinating and unique. It’s a simple story that challenges everything people are taught about stereotypical jobs. Learning to work together to solve problems is a lovely way to introduce kids to the joys of engineering – it’s not just a job for boys. This book teaches them about the whole design process, from asking questions to drawing up plans, making prototypes, and everything else involved in an engineering project. The characters are wonderfully well-written. Elsie may be a princess but she’s got determination and the guts to see a project through. It’s also a great book for firing up their creative sides and helping them see things from a different perspective. I love books that steer kids away from stereotyping and help them see that they can do and be exactly what they want. A lovely story. I look forward to reading more of them.

My Daughter Loves It!
