Who does not like a good love story? And why do you have to content yourself with one when you can have many in one book? Romantic Reflections by Kim Dwyer offers short stories that will not fail to thrill all those who want to read a great book with love as its main theme. Intrigues, happy endings, and even a Magical Mirror and a Wish Fairy are some of the ingredients that make this book special. All that is missing is a romantic reader who wants to find out if Katie will find the man of her dreams and if Alana will marry Aaron, will you be that reader?

What I like most about Romantic Reflections is its unpredictability. Kim Dwyer recounts the events of interesting characters with whom it is pleasant to spend time. I never got bored while reading; to be honest, I wished the book would never end. My personal favorites include the delicately magical tale of Katie and her Wish Fairy and the story of Adam (son of Alana and one of two identical twin brothers). I must also add that Dwyer writes very well, and reading is as smooth and enjoyable as one would expect from a book like this. I recommend Romantic Reflections to all those who want to read a collection of short stories that makes them escape from everyday life and entertains them with adventures that are different from those they usually read.

Vincent Dublado

Kim Dwyer's subtle creativity brings her little stories with impressive characters to life. She presents ten short stories that are not limited to what constitutes a romantic tale. It breaks the mold because they are not only about two romantic figures falling in love, but these are storylines that provoke you to think about the intricacies of human relationships. The table of contents presents three-line limericks that introduce you to the stories you are about to read. Dazzling, lonesome, and sinister, there is an enviable fearlessness and humor to these tales that you don’t get to read every day.

From a lonely single woman to a spoiled brat in a Cadillac, they commonly present conflict that stems from our primal need to be loved, making for some fascinating and explosive reading material. Kim Dwyer creates characters grounded in both reality and the surreal, and they face challenges that are resonant. Her characters and storylines are not flashy, but Dwyer understands people and relationships and represents them with panache. The first story in the collection, The Magical Mirror, is remarkable for its surreal take on a single woman who wishes for a man. Romantic Reflections has an earthy brilliance. Anyone who loves to consume imaginative romantic fiction will find a treat in reading this slim anthology.
