Thousands of stars are born every second. In Room Enough for All by Christopher DeLuca, young readers are invited to look up at the night sky and meet the North Star, the brightest star in a sky filled with bright stars. She yearns to know why she’s so luminous and also whether there’s space for everyone else to glow in their own way, too. When others tell her she’s “too bright,” she tries to hide behind Pluto and even curls her five points to blend in—but nothing feels quite right. Will she regain her confidence and learn her purpose? The North Star’s journey reminds us that even in a vast cosmos, there’s room for every soul to sparkle.
I really enjoyed Room Enough for All by Christopher DeLuca, mainly because it felt so relatable, making it a fantastic story for readers of all ages. The writing is clear, inviting, and honest. As an educator, I appreciate how complex emotions are presented in ways children can easily understand. This tale could spark meaningful discussions about self-acceptance, celebrating differences, and what it means to find your purpose. After reading, students could draw their own stars or themselves as a star. Sian Moore’s illustrations add warmth and wonder, with glowing hues and dreamy skies that perfectly capture the theme. This book really embodies the line from a song, “This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine…” and reminds us that we all belong and have a radiance worth sharing with the world.
