All you need is to believe in yourself. That was the important lesson that Rudy had to learn. In K.A. Mulenga’s Rudy, the Reindeer Who Could Not Fly, Rudy is frustrated and saddened by the fact that he couldn’t fly. Try as he did, run as fast as he could, he just couldn’t make lift-off – well, at least not very high. All the other young reindeer were good at flying and they were preparing to help Santa on that wonderful night when they would pull the sleigh full of gifts for children around the world. Rudy’s friends, Rita (another reindeer) and Rex (a rabbit) encouraged the young reindeer, cheering him on so he could find the special magic that all reindeer have. Rita in particular shared her wisdom: “Don’t worry, Rudy. Everyone learns at their own pace. The important thing is to believe in yourself.”

K.A. Mulenga’s picture book, Rudy, the Reindeer Who Could Not Fly, is a delightful Christmas adventure of self-belief and friendship. Written for young readers ages 2 to 8, this festive story will take youngsters on an enchanting journey, and they too will be cheering Rudy on. Told in simple language so young readers can easily follow along and improve their reading skills, this story promotes the power of self-belief and never giving up, as well as the power of true friendship. The illustrations are bright, bold, and colorful and help move the story forward, adding to the charm of Christmas magic. Loved it!
