Like most 17 year olds, Samantha Higgins knows it all.  Through a series of events, she ends up living in her vehicle.  Along came a knight in shining armor of was he.  Was Kyle her savior?  The next four years of her life prove differently.  He rapes, abuses, controls and holds her prisoner.  Finally, she escapes to begin a new life in Missouri.  Kyle was not ready to let her go.  He makes her life a living hell, stalking, terrorizing her day and night.

Sherry Moore’s plot successfully draws readers in and holds them captive.  I felt as though I was watching the nightmare Samantha was living.  I wanted to reach out to her and pull her away from the horrendous situation she was living.  No man or woman should ever have to face the violence, imprisonment, and abuse that our heroine in Shadows to The Past faced.  Samantha shows great courage and poise in the way she handled the situation.  I will not give the plot away but I encourage readers to pick up a copy of this book to see how Samantha fares.

Samantha Higgins is seventeen and she knows everything there is about life, or does she? Living at home is getting her down, her mother is on her case all the time about every little thing she does. One snowy night changes Samantha's life in a way that she will remember for the rest of her life. Talking her mother into loaning her the car for the night takes some doing but Samantha finally talks her into it. Sam knew how to drive on the slick roads, so having an accident was a surprise.

Grounded Samantha was only allowed to leave the house for school and her job. Going to her friends house she ends up having a fight with her mother that leaves her no place to live. Staying with her friend wasn't allowed for very long. Soon Samantha found herself living in her truck, until she met Kyle. He came along and saved her, but did he really? Reading about the four year horror Samantha Higgins lived was so real, it is like you are standing there watching and feeling everything one mad man puts her through.

Sherry Moore is a very talented writer. I found myself so involved with the story I couldn't stop reading. There are twist and turns that leave you holding your breath to see how things are going to turn out for Samantha. I highly recommend this book as a wonderful read. I can't wait to read more of this authors writing.

I truly did not want to put this book down! It captivates you from the beginning to end! It's one of those "on the edge of your seat! What's going to happen next?" kind of books! Sherry, I do hope that you will write a sequel to this to let us know what is happening later on in the characters lives! I want to know! :-)

Sherry Moore's SHADOWS OF THE PAST is a methodical presentation of one man's reign, terror and illusiveness; a true Casanova, his heart fueled with lechery and hatred. He is obtrusive and rambunctious to those close to him, to those who love him. With unremitting curiosity, we watched the plight of one woman's heightened determination to jump each hurdle he plants in her way. To stay free from harm, to stay safe from a raucous maniac that's on the prowl!

The only word I can use to describe "Shadows of the Past" is captivating. It holds your attention from beginning to end. I give this book five stars. Poor Samantha Higgins is on an emotional roller coaster ride that doesn't seem to want to come to a stop. You feel the pain she feels and the fear as she read this spellbinding book. The book leaves you wanting more. A great read by Sherry Moore.

Midnight Reader

Sherry Moore's "Shadows of the Past" is a disturbingly realistic portrayal of vulnerability manipulated by psychopathic evil. Put this one on your "must read" list.

"Shadows of the Past," a moving story of a runaway girl, filled me with compassion. In her desperate search for shelter, teenager Samantha Higgins finds herself in frightening captivity at the hands of a man whose initial friendliness turns to eerie abuse. Samantha's struggle to escape this increasingly demonic predator left me breathless. I can't wait to read the sequel! Review by Laura Somers, Author of "Didn't See It Coming."

I was impressed with how the thoughts flowed, how she handled the paragraph transitions, and her nice crisp paragraphs. She captured the feelings of someone caught in an abusive situation, I could feel the fear, and was relieved with the hope she offers anyone caught in simliar situation. The book was simply captivating and hope others read it to, if only for enjoyment.
