Soul Hoppers by Laura Clementz begins with the citizens of Atril and Treaton on the brink of war. Refugees pour into Kapra as Atrilians surround the city of Ecrad. Amid the tension, two soul hoppers transition to new bodies. One hopper makes the move to a host with wealthier circumstances but learns the person's private life isn't as perfect as the public view. The other hopper is concerned about helping others but still feels the pull to find a true connection. In the spiritual community, it is rumored that when two soul hoppers join, the harmonious effect of their union is felt throughout the area, but they can move around each other without making a bond. Without their knowledge, the soul hoppers are looking for each other, but between the impending war and their personal circumstances, their reunion seems unlikely.

Laura Clementz pulls readers into Kapra so they feel like they are experiencing the emotions of the characters. The description of "soul hopping" is so detailed that it's almost like the author has experienced the shift. I was involved in the path of the characters from the start of the novel, and I was pleased when I saw the emotional growth in the soul hoppers. The story shows that the original souls had lessons to learn as they wound their way around each other. The plot moves quickly, leading readers through three points of view to strengthen their understanding. The concept of soul hopping is an interesting idea that showcases the depth of the author's imagination and her ability to produce original ideas in her work. Readers who enjoy romances with kismet and spiritual significance will love Soul Hoppers.
