In a unique and interesting new read by author R.N. Flippin, Soundscape takes readers to the near future, the year 2024. In an America that dealt with a nuclear scare, and the overwhelming elections of members of the GOP, many citizens are finding their country to be a very different place. Music is tightly controlled, in fact owning a Beatles album can get a person arrested, and twenty-foot walls surround the last bits of liberal America that remain. As another election looms, democratic presidential candidate Maxwell Fish hopes that, if elected, he'll be able to repeal the changes that have taken away the rights of most of our country's citizens. That might be hard for him to do, however, as he's under house arrest, held there by the Republican authorities. When the liberal Municipal Alliance pins its hopes on the new invention of Blake Hawke, a young physicist and lover of music, to help them win the election, it seems as if he's their last hope. Will he be able to come out of hiding to help the country turn around? You'll have to read the book to find out!

I very much enjoyed Soundscape. Author R.N. Flippin has done a great job in creating a world that unfortunately seems as if it could become a reality in the not too distant future. His characters are interesting, humorous at times, and readers will be able to relate to them. Music is infused throughout this novel, and certainly adds an excellent point of reference. I am very pleased to recommend Soundscape to any readers who love a great work of fiction, and perhaps especially to those of the liberal persuasion and to music lovers. I certainly hope that author R.N. Flippin is working on his next novel. If it's anything like Soundscape, it will certainly be worth a read!
