A forty-five-year-old gambler named Joey Mumbai gets into big trouble with a sectid mobster, Fat Okko. Joey owes him one million Determinations of Official Worth, or dows. Fat Okko finds out that Joey inherited Space Station Halcyon from his billionaire father. The sectid sees an opportunity. He sends Joey to the station to help the mob run their dirty schemes. Upon his arrival, Joey learns that his space station is in a horrible condition. While the station’s system intelligence, Hali, is extremely happy to have him there, the station engineer, a manatid named Daryl Ponds, is not excited at all and may even hold some grudges against Joey. Also, there is an unknown entity supposedly dwelling in the station kitchen's deep fryer. The crew brings devastating news. The station awaits a thorough code inspection. Joey knows that if they don't pass it, the mob will kill him. Space Station Halcyon by Matthew C. Lucas is for fans of humor, adventure, and science fiction.

In Space Station Halcyon, Matthew C. Lucas blends a thrilling adventure with brilliant satire and mixes it all with a healthy dose of exciting black humor. The author creates a perfect and, to be frank, horrifying portrait of a bureaucrat whose goal is to make others follow the regulations no matter the price. The main character intrigues us. We understand that Joey is not a very good person, yet we root for him. Joey is upbeat, and his resourcefulness has no bounds. The other characters are no less complex. A fortune teller named Mags brings a touch of the paranormal to the narrative. She is a character we want to explore. A mystery surrounds the space station itself, for it violates the laws of physics. The gripping story and the author's smooth writing style make us want more of Joey Mumbai's adventures.
