Spiritual Warfare: The Battlefield of the Mind is a valiant effort on the part of Isaac Essilfie to explain how it is in God’s world, but in layman’s terms. The book is broken down into three sections: the darkness, the battlefield, and the whole armor of God.
The Darkness in spiritual terms means many things. One of God’s angels, Satan, was cast down to earth for the sin of pride and believing that he could be equal to God. Subsequent to that, Satan began tempting humans to fall into sin and to fall away from God. Since God is light, its opposite is darkness. Hell is darkness and separation from God. Darkness causes people to do things that are sinful, hurtful, and even self destructive. Anything that is forbidden in His word, the Bible, is considered sin and can be considered among the darker realms. It lists the Ten Commandments, but also many things that the Bible says are forbidden, such as witchcraft, sexual sin, and hatred.
The Battlefield - there is a battle underway for our very souls. The battle is between light and dark, and is fought in the spirit world. Satan and his emissaries can tempt a person with benefits that may seem impossible and we must remain on the side of the light. Nothing in this world will ever be worth the consequences of following the darkness. Not sexual sin, nor stealing, nor cheating. You might enjoy the moment, or even the remainder of your physical years, but when you die you will know you were wrong. And it will be too late. Every time you do something wrong, you say yes to the darkness. Immediately ask for forgiveness before it is too late.
The Whole Armour of God provides a way for us to escape temptation. We are to bring every thought captive, bring it into the light. If everyone knew your thoughts, would you be ashamed? This is a great signpost of sin. Truth, righteousness, peace, faith, salvation, and the Word of God are your armor and weapons.
Spiritual Warfare is a no nonsense book by Isaac Essilfie about God and our redemption. Read it, but know that you will be held accountable after the last days for how well you adhered to what you were taught.
