The Art, Science and Business of Aromatherapy: Your Essential Oil & Entrepreneurship Guide by Kayla Fioravanti is the holy grail of essential oil guides. Written by an author who started a business selling soap and custom natural products in her small apartment and turning it into a multi-million dollar business, Fioravanti is a bonafide authority on the subject. The book starts with the author's personal journey before expanding into eleven chapters covering the oils themselves, blending, practical application, safety and regulations, and brand and business building. It is wholly comprehensive with information conveyed in a manner that encompasses Fioravanti's first hand experience as well as the formal ins and outs of the venture.
The Art, Science and Business of Aromatherapy by Kayla Fioravanti is wonderfully complete and relevant. With the meteoric rise of essential oil sales in the past few years (mostly through multi-level marketing, which Fioravanti sort of spearheaded in this field), this book couldn't come at a more timely moment. It's evident through the style of writing that the author is passionate about essential oils and that devotion transcends just creating a business opportunity. Reading this is like having a conversation with a friend, one who has put in the legwork so others may have an easier go at it. I particularly enjoyed the section on thalassotherapy, which is aptly followed by sea salt and soak solutions. I'd absolutely recommend this book to anyone interested in alternative health, fragrance, natural products, or the business of working in any facet of the essential oil industry.
