The Dreadful Call by Jon Ring is an anthology of Stories of the Supernatural and Suspense. Thirteen tales of suspense and terror, including haunted forests, tin soldiers that aren’t all they appear to be, and strange creatures. Enter a forgotten temple and discover horrors beyond all comprehension. Join a cowboy as he uncovers the dark secrets of the Montana woods. Struggle to close a cellar door that just won’t stay shut and much more as you prepare to be scared and entertained. Learn what lies beneath the seemingly ordinary world we live in, things that stare you in the face but might not be so visible – or believable – and some things you would rather forget about completely.
The Dreadful Call and Other Stories of the Supernatural and Suspense by Jon Ring is a fascinating read. Each story is a door to another world, some of them not so pleasant. This collection has plenty of suspense and each tale had its own twists, turns, and sometimes surprising endings. The characters in each tale are well developed, not always likable but perfectly in keeping with their respective stories, and there is plenty of action in each tightly woven plot. The stories may be macabre but they are also highly entertaining. They are just the right length to allow you to get involved in the story without too much information – short, sweet, and to the point. These kinds of books are perfect for those who just want a quick read rather than getting invested in a full-length story.
