The Entitled: A Nicole Graves Mystery is a sleuth murder mystery written by Nancy Boyarsky. Nicole hadn’t been exactly thrilled to take on her boss Jerry Stephens' newest assignment for her. While she loved the idea of going back to London, a city she was very familiar with and quite fond of, the idea of chaperoning a seventeen-year-old girl, who had been attending King’s College London’s special program for high school seniors, back to her parents’ home in Los Angeles, was exactly the type of assignment this private investigator now tried to avoid. Jerry knew she wasn’t really on board as her last “babysitting” job still caused her pain. He had assured her that this one would be simple, but things rarely ever are. Abigail Fletcher was tall, gorgeous and seemed definitely older than her seventeen years when Nicole finally met her, and she was not about to leave quietly if Nicole read her correctly. But when Sami, Abigail’s handsome boyfriend, is found murdered, Abigail is the suspect the police consider most likely to have committed it. Suddenly the retrieval of a minor got complicated.
Nancy Boyarsky’s The Entitled is the fifth book in her Nicole Graves Mystery Series, but the author gives just enough background information to allow it to be enjoyed as a standalone story. Her private investigator blends a modern outlook with noir, hard-boiled, classic PI undertones. The plot is ingenious and unpredictable, and the story is action-packed and hard to put down. Who killed Sami and why? Nicole knows Abigail didn’t do it, but attempting to find out who did could make Nicole the next casualty. Boyarsky’s characters are well-defined and believable, and her writing is effective and on-target. The Entitled: A Nicole Graves Mystery, Book 5 is most highly recommended.
