Fearless Growth Mindset: Short Stories for Girls is a collection of eight motivational short stories by Toby Sparrow. At the rock-climbing camp, Sahana learns the value of perseverance and practice after she saves her bully's life. Skye is a phenomenal dancer who shies away from the spotlight. But when the lead dancer for the regional finals sprains her ankle, Skye must rise to the occasion. While racing at the Soapbox Derby, Naomi learns that giving her best effort is more important than any trophy. After struggling to remember her lines in the school play, Willow trains her mind with some help from her mother. When her best friend invites Nina on a camping trip, she is reluctant to go. However, she eventually steps out of her comfort zone and sees its benefits.

Fearless Growth Mindset: Short Stories for Girls is the kind of short story collection that any young girl will be delighted to read. That's because Toby Sparrow's characters will resonate with preteens who face similar challenges in their everyday lives, especially young girls in this case. I like how the author infuses key life lessons into his stories to make sure youngsters learn something from these tales. At the same time, these narratives are also immensely entertaining. The protagonists are easy to like. They learn to navigate challenges with the help of their friends and family members, which kids will find very inspiring. Each of the eight stories in this book covers a unique theme. I enjoyed every story and highly recommend that parents introduce the book to their children.

Fearless Growth Mindset Short Stories for Girls by Toby Sparrow is a children's short story collection that teaches important life lessons. It begins with The Power of Yet, a story about young Sahana at a rock-climbing camp. She keeps falling and can’t get to the top. Asha was the best climber; she made Sahana feel like she wasn't good enough. Sahana tries many times to reach her mother but gets no answer. She receives a voice message from her mother encouraging her. Her mother reminds her that she is not strong enough "yet," and the advice just makes her more determined to practice and improve. This is one of many stories that educate young girls about confidence, self-improvement, and persistence.

Fearless Growth Mindset Short Stories for Girls by Toby Sparrow is a motivational book with unique stories about different characters. Each story introduces a character, puts them in a relatable dilemma, and provides guidance to help them fix the problem. The personalities and problems of the girls are different. Sahana couldn’t climb at first, but she learned and later saved Asha. Cleo was too overconfident to achieve her dreams. The variety allows readers to get a glimpse of different temperaments and identify with the one they relate to most. The main theme is growth in mindset, and the writing style is third person. The illustrations are very good and suited to middle-grade readers. I also like the mindset message, reflection questions, and mini challenges at the end of each chapter. These will help young girls with similar challenges practice becoming better.

Susan B. Anthony famously said, “Failure is impossible.” A message that rings true for the young characters in Toby Sparrow's Fearless Growth Mindset Short Stories for Girls. This collection of short stories centers on young girls who aren't always sure they can succeed. Sahana struggles at rock-climbing camp, Skye is afraid to step into the spotlight, and Simone can't seem to get her latest invention to work. They realize that setbacks don't have to define them. Each of their journeys focuses on growth, effort, and learning from mistakes instead of offering quick fixes for their problems. At the end of every chapter are questions and activities encouraging readers to apply the lessons to their own experiences. Will you relate to any of these girls?

I really enjoyed Fearless Growth Mindset Short Stories for Girls by Toby Sparrow. It's a fast-paced read that older kids will stay interested in from beginning to end. I liked that each of the girls went through a different challenge, so I never felt like I was reading the same lesson over and over. As an educator, I would read one chapter a day and then discuss topics like resilience, confidence, and handling mistakes. Students could respond to the reflection questions or write about times they’ve had to overcome an obstacle of their own. The illustrations by River Quaggy Studios add personality to each story, helping to bring the characters and their experiences to life. What stood out most to me was how encouraging the overall message was without feeling forced. Anyone looking for a late-elementary or middle-school-aged chapter book with positive life messages will want to pick up a copy.

Do you think you could invent a robot that could deliver cookies? Simone wasn’t a quitter; she knew what she was doing. Well, sort of. In Toby Sparrow’s Fearless Growth Mindset Short Stories for Girls, The Cookie Crumb Catastrophe is a delightful story about determination and the lesson that mistakes are not disasters but rather mere stepping stones to success. When Simone’s robot backs up instead of moving forward and shoots cookie crumbs all over the garage where the girls are working, Simone is disappointed. But the experience makes her think hard and come up with some solutions. She really wants her robot to work, to be a success as an inventor, and to make a mark at the invention fair. After all, it’s not all about winning, but rather how well you play the game of creation and never giving up.

Toby Sparrow’s Fearless Growth Mindset Short Stories for Girls is an inspiring and encouraging collection of stories that will help young girls shine in all that they do. This collection includes eight short stories following different themes: pursuing creative talent, trying something new and challenging, and many more. Each story concludes with a message to encourage young girls and to challenge them to keep trying and to try harder. There’s also a selection of questions to make young readers think about what they learned in the story. The overall theme of this collection is to challenge yourself to do better and to never give up.

Fearless Growth Mindset Short Stories for Girls by Toby Sparrow is a well-written book that helps readers, especially young girls, to become confident and build their self-esteem. Sahana keeps falling off the beginner's wall while climbing during camp. She is discouraged and almost gives up until she gets a voice message from her Mom. She is determined to push herself out of her comfort zone and make her way to hero status in camp. In another story, Cleo wants to be like her aunt, who is a famous violinist, but she is reluctant to put in the effort. She learns from an embarrassing experience in class and is motivated to practice regularly to make her parents and others proud.

Every chapter of this book was inspiring and filled with positive moral lessons that will help readers develop the right attitude and achieve success in whatever they do. I loved that the author used well-developed characters and also wrote stories that portray realistic daily challenges kids face, which they can easily relate to. From this book, children could learn to overcome their fears and motivate themselves regardless of negativity and bullying from their peers, among others. The reflection questions and mini challenges at the end of each chapter were lovely, and the illustrations also made this book more engaging and fun to read. The writing is concise, well-paced, organized, and easy for kids to comprehend. Themes featured include: hard work, forgiveness, bravery, friendship, and more. I recommend Fearless Growth Mindset Short Stories for Girls by Toby Sparrow to all children and adults who enjoy reading children’s books.
