The Last Seer and the Tomb of Enoch is Ashland Menshouse’s debut novel.
Ashland Menshouse received a Bachelor’s degree from Georgetown College in Georgetown, Kentucky. He obtained a doctoral degree from the University of Kentucky and completed post-doctoral studies at Emory University. He currently resides in Atlanta, Georgia, where he spends most of his time working with ill and injured children. The sequel, entitled The Last Guardian and the Keeper of the Magi, is nearly complete. Menshouse is also working on the early planning stages of the third novel, The Last Nazirite and the Shadowlight.

“The Last Seer and the Tomb of Enoch”, the debut novel by Ashland Menshouse, is a wonderful story about several youngsters, which begins the night before they start their first term of High School. Aubrey, Buzz, and Adriqa have been neighborhood friends forever and soon welcome Jordana into their close-knit circle of adventuresome teens. The trouble they get into seems never to be quite their fault, exactly, but infortuitous circumstances always conspire to make them the likeliest guilty parties. Why does Aubrey’s brother, Gaetan, seem to hate him so much? How does Buzz come up with his never-ending stream of bizarre inventions? Why does Rodriqa have virtually unrestricted access to the inside of the dam? What do the tsul’kalu want with Jordana? Who ARE the tsul’kalu? Who is Hovis Trottle? Who is Griggs? Who is Ms. Thistlewood? What started the long-standing feud between her and the old Widow Wizenblatt? And whatever happened to Magnos? And the circus?
I loved this story! I actually kept looking to see how far along I was, not because I wanted to hurry it up, but because I didn’t want it to end any time soon! I was happy when I was only one-third or one-fourth of the way through it and realized that it was over 400 pages long. But don’t let the length put you off. This story provided me the most fun I have had with a book in a long, long time. "The Last Seer and the Tomb of Enoch" is a cleverly constructed fantasy/paranormal fictional adventure, suitable for adults from age 12 through 102. If he wanted, the author could have made at least a trilogy out of this story, and still told a great story. His generosity in providing the whole story in one volume, however, is truly a gift to the reader. I can’t wait to see what Ashland Menshouse comes up with next! Until then, I couldn’t recommend this book any more highly than I do. It really is something special.
