The Squiggly Wiggly Worm by Lindsey Coker Luckey is a fun, silly rhyming story. The squiggly worm starts on an adventure one day, meeting various creatures along the way. Each meeting results in a new rhyme and another descriptor being added to the worm. When he meets a funny snail, he becomes a "giggly, squiggly, wiggly worm." The worm meets a bee, cat, duck, and even a tooting worm! Eventually, the worm squiggles and wiggles his way back home, with a new very long name. The Squiggly Wiggly Worm is filled with wordplay and tongue twisters that make for a fun read-aloud story.

Lindsey Coker Luckey has written and illustrated an entertaining and humorous story that kids will just love. Fans of The Wonkey Donkey will get a kick out of reading this rhythmic tale out loud. Luckey's illustrations are full of bright, vivid colors. The squiggly wiggly worm has big eyes and two hands, which come in handy sometimes! The bold, uncluttered pictures make this a great choice for toddlers. An important early literacy skill is phonological awareness, breaking up words into different sounds and Luckey has filled her story with a plethora of rhyming words that reinforce this skill. I can picture kids wanting to chant along every time a new descriptor is added to the squiggly wiggly worm's name. Kids love silly stories that make them laugh and The Squiggly Wiggly Worm will have them giggling away and will be enjoyed by both young and old!
