In Ali Barclay and Sofie Wells’ The Tale of Charlie Wags: London, this puppy is off to London, England to take in the sights. You may ask how he gets there so easily. Well, quite simply, Charlie Wags wags his tail. He explores the historic sites from Buckingham Palace to the Tower of London and the famous London Bridge. He enjoys high tea dressed in the height of fashion and finishes his busy day with a boat ride on the Thames.
Ali Barclay and Sofie Wells’ picture book, The Tale of Charlie Wags: London, is a great way to teach young readers about some of the interesting and exciting places around the world. This book focuses on London and provides readers with a snapshot view of the sights. Told in rhyming verse, this lyrical treasure will have young readers lured into the love of travel. The illustrations are bright, bold, and colorful and add another layer to this touristic adventure. The authors have provided a map of the area of London that Charlie Wags explores and, at the end, is a list of the places he visits along with some interesting tidbits and history about each one. This book is a great way to spark young readers’ imaginations and the passion to explore and learn about the world. Charlie Wags has a magical knack for bringing historic places to life. Brilliantly presented.
