Camy De Mario's children's book "The World of Happy - Let's All Be Friends" is a cute book teaching that friendships can be formed across cultures. Happy, a red sea star, is bored and his friend helps him to fix up a boat and he takes a journey to other areas of the world. Happy meets other sea stars who are just like him, but they possess different physical characteristics and live in different cultures and environments. Happy enjoys the time he gets to spend with his new friends and he learns that although they are all different from each other they can be friends and share with and teach each other things about their world.

This is a cute story that is a great introduction to cultural diversity and being friends among cultures. The lesson that is presented in the story is a good one. Wherever Happy visits, he is introduced to a sea star living there and learns a little about his or her culture and way of life. However, to me it seemed as if little was shared and it was almost a "tease" as each culture was briefly described and then suddenly Happy was in another part of the world. I think it would be great to make a whole series of 'Happy Adventures' where he travels back to each of the countries and there is a book devoted to each of the countries he visits. They would be great books to teach children about other cultures.
