Time Ripples is a science fiction novel written by P.J. Lawton. It's set in the 21st century after the devastating War of the Americas. Will Stevens and his college friend, Sam Smith, are both working for EROS, a large research and development facility. They've been hired to help the company decipher the writing found on artifacts discovered in Guatemala by EROS during a satellite survey for mineral deposits. The head of the Science Division, Dr. Silas, has expressed his dissatisfaction with the lack of progress Stevens and Smith have made over the last few months. When Silas brings up the Board Meeting that is to take place the following week, Stevens tells his boss that they should have a breakthrough by then. He's figured out a different way of approaching the problem and should have a solution for the Board.

P.J. Lawton's science fiction novel, Time Ripples, has a bit of everything. There's an archaeological find of great importance; aliens who are gathering their strength via ancient and bloody rituals; and time travelling machines that can take visitors anywhere in the past. There's also a tantalizing application of quantum physics that runs throughout the story. Lawton's main characters, Smith and Stevens, are well-developed and evenly matched. Their co-worker, and Steven's on-again, off-again love interest, Elli, is the expert in quantum physics, and I particularly enjoyed her theories on alternative worlds and the impact of the time travels. Time Ripples is fast-paced and well-plotted, and I found myself reluctant to put the book down until I had finished it. Time Ripples is recommended reading.
