To Spring With Love is the third installment in the Seasons of Summer Novella Series, written by Melissa Baldwin. Summer Peters is far from happy. Not only is her boyfriend, Alexander Williams, insistent on keeping the devious Melanie on his payroll, but Summer also learns that Melanie is now dating her ex-boyfriend, Jake. On top of that, Summer’s best friend, Angie, is moving to Florida at short notice; her landlady, Mrs. Rothera, keeps changing her renovation plans; and Summer’s meeting with Alexander’s mother, Penny, leaves a sour taste in her mouth – and not just with the menu she serves. Summer also needs to find a new apartment, adding to the overwhelming stress and insecurity which already seems to be eating her alive. Alexander’s invitation to join him on his next business trip might help alleviate Summer’s stress, but thanks to a shocking development, a hornet’s nest awaits.
I have been very much looking forward to the next highly anticipated novella in the Seasons of Summer series, and Melissa Baldwin certainly did not disappoint. Her ability to convey the tension and trouble in each situation that arises in Summer’s complicated life is masterfully done, and her story-telling abilities are unmatched by any other author to date. Each time Summer seems to catch a break, a brick wall lands in her path, bringing her plans to a screeching halt. The meeting with Alexander’s parents was shocking, to say the least, and made me question the true relationship between the queen of mischief and her boss, while I simultaneously tried to decipher Melanie’s relationship with Jake. So many shocking surprises pop up in To Spring With Love, but with each and every one, I found myself cheering for Summer to pull through victoriously, hoping that she would shatter each and every obstacle laid in her path by Alexander’s mad assistant. Melissa Baldwin’s uncanny ability to capture every emotion imaginable at the right moment is what keeps me coming back for more. I highly recommend To Spring With Love, as well as the rest of the Seasons of Summer series, to readers who enjoy complex romance novels with sprinkle or three of malicious intentions.
