Tristan Smith and The Alien Building Site by K.P. Hogan is a compelling sci-fi story that will arrest the attention of fans of stories like The Martian, a story that reveals a bubbling imagination, great skill in creating memorable characters, and the work of a real storyteller. It's a great opening to a series that will undoubtedly entertain fans of this genre and more. Tristan Smith is on a very dangerous and arduous mission to retrieve a treasure buried under dust that has piled up for eons on Mars. Readers follow the athletic and V-shaped Tristan Smith with his crew of eighty as they embark on this perilous mission across the galaxy. Question is: Are they the only ones coveting the Martian treasure? And do they have everything it takes to beat the odds stacked against them?
K.P. Hogan is a name that should be associated with the finesse of science fiction, a gifted writer whose imaginative and well-crafted story takes readers into worlds they'd love to explore. Tristan Smith and The Alien Building Site features very compelling characters, and the writing is fluid and enticing, with meaningful and natural sounding dialogues sprinkled throughout the story. The dialogue is revealing of character, helps to build plot elements, and heightens the tension. The author doesn't wait to create problems for the characters and readers watch with bated breath as they traverse the skies. K.P. Hogan writes like a scientist and if he isn't one, then he must have done a great job with his research. This is a captivating read and I can't wait to start the next book in the series.
