Uncle Champion I: The World Beyond the Fence by Joseph I Rosselli is a sports fiction story. Christopher Uncle decides to take up running as a way of exercising and to get in training for a big race. While out on one of his runs, something happens to change his life forever. Christopher meets Miss Sara and Miss Rella, the supervisors at a rundown, almost derelict orphanage beyond the fence. They are concerned about Julia, a 6-year-old girl at the orphanage, who is depressed and sad, spending every day reading by the fence. Together, Christopher, Miss Sara, and Miss Rella work to save the children, and Julia helps them to lead all the children out of the rundown orphanage and into the new building designed by Chris. As a thank you, the children give Chris his new name – Uncle Champion.

Uncle Champion I: The World Beyond the Fence by Joseph I Rosselli was something a little different, one of those real feel-good stories that tugs at the heart strings. The story grabs you from the very first page and takes you on a roller coaster of a ride, through a whole range of different emotions. It has romance, humor, and a real human element to it, with a good plot that is solid. The characters were exceptionally well-developed, with plenty of detail about who they were and who they became. This is a story of inspiration, a story that teaches us how good can come out of anything, and that determination to succeed is the key. This is a book that will suit all ages and I really am looking forward to reading the rest of the series.
