War Beyond Galaxies by Ana del Álamo is the first installment in the Galaxia Series that follows Captain Nashtara Jalligam, a highly skilled Impala fighter pilot in the Earth Space Force Alliance (ESFA). It begins with a decades-long conflict between humans and the Venyex species. After an all-out raid on the Venyex homeworld, Verox, the humans are faced with a catastrophic defeat. Nash and a handful of survivors, including three Venyex enemies, find themselves lost in space in a cargo ship with a failed navigation system. These unforeseen circumstances force the humans and the Venyex to embrace a temporary truce and work together to navigate back on course. As they journey through endless space, they receive a signal that guides them to an unknown planet. They are left with no other choice but to head for this planet without knowing what awaits them.
I was drawn into the world of spacecrafts and galaxies. Ana del Álamo created a plot that beautifully demonstrates futuristic space battles and space travel. The writing style masterfully brought two species bent on each other's destruction together, who must now rely on each other to survive. The characters were well developed, especially the dynamic between the captain, Nashtara, and the cunning Venyex Commander Cort Dan, who slowly turned from enemies to grudging allies. War Beyond Galaxies shows themes of betrayal, cooperation, leadership, and responsibility. The book has a good pace with no slow moments, which kept me engaged throughout. I recommend War Beyond Galaxies to readers who like science fiction where sworn enemies must ally for survival against impossible odds.
