In When Heaven Reaches Earth by T. Sharpe, Jana, a single mother determined to understand her life, dies before she gets the chance. In the next life, she is faced with new challenges like falling in love and fulfilling a prophecy that she may not yet be ready for. Will she say yes to the destiny in front of her? Or will she decline and never experience the life she was meant to have?

I liked the backstory of When Heaven Reaches Earth that showed Jana as a single mother. I felt that these parts of the story really connected me with Jana and made my heart ache for her. I think any mother (and really, any parent or aunt or grandparent) can relate to the idea of putting a child first and doing whatever it takes to make sure that the child has the most out of life. I respected Jana for the way she raised her son and the sacrifices she made to make sure he had the life that she wanted for him.

So it was very bittersweet when Jana passed away, much too young and never having the chance to live her full life. I loved the journey that she started on then, fighting her way through Hell at the chance to live a second life. Could she fall in love? Did she have the courage to live again and try over? What if she made the same mistakes? What if she made new ones?

I loved the idea of a person getting a second chance. I think a lot of readers will like this part of the story, and the idea of a second chance will resonate with them because who doesn't have mistakes they wish they could undo? Have a do over? Wipe the slate clean. It just sucked that Jana had to die to get that chance.
