You Are Loved is a heartfelt children’s picture book written by Antonia Aviles, with illustrations by Lovyaa Garg. The story follows Jasmine, a young girl who feels lonely and sad after moving away from her mother. She has to live with Mrs. Garcia, a kind woman who notices Jasmine’s sorrow and decides to cheer her up. Mrs. Garcia shares a special secret with Jasmine: love is all around her every day. At first, Jasmine struggles to understand this message. However, during a walk, she begins to notice the beauty around her, like butterflies, happy dogs, and her favorite ice cream. With these small joys, Jasmine starts to recognize and feel the love that surrounds her. Although she misses her mother, she realizes that the moon, nature, Mrs. Garcia, and others are watching over her and sending their love.
You Are Loved emphasizes the importance of recognizing and embracing the love and beauty present in our lives, even during moments of sadness or change. Witnessing Jasmine gradually rediscover these small, joyful reminders of love is truly uplifting. Mrs. Garcia’s patience and nurturing guidance are what many children in difficult situations need. Kindness and empathy play a crucial role in helping them feel safe and loved. Antonia Aviles’s storytelling covers themes of resilience, hope, and gratitude—qualities that are essential for readers facing uncertain times, as they provide strength and optimism. The colorful illustrations create a dreamy and calming atmosphere, perfectly aligning with its messages of love, perseverance, and healing. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and highly recommend sharing it with your children to remind them to maintain a positive outlook and embrace the love surrounding them each day.
