She is just a regular girl with dreams of leaving her small town behind when she graduates from high school. She does not like her life, but there is a guy in her school, Lucas, she secretly likes. And after her boyfriend breaks up with her, she takes a chance...
There are some big secrets he is keeping from her, but Allie loves him enough to let him keep his secrets, for the time being. When Allie’s military brother shows an interest in Lucas, she is afraid for him. Her brother physically and psychologically abuses her. But despite that, she would not give up on Lucas, no matter how much pressure her brother puts on her. What is Lucas hiding? Why does her brother want Lucas? Can she survive it?
Nancy Pennick's 29 is a mysterious novel that will grab your attention from the get go. The story is fast paced and very well written. This is not your usual boy-meets-girl story. This has a lot of drama and a lot of heartbreak. This is a thrilling read that will keep you focused and not wanting to let go. I literally finished this in a couple of hours. This is indeed a very well-written novel that will take you on a ride.
