Vanilla And Chocolate/Vainilla Y Chocolate (Spanish and English Edition) by Maritza Martinez Mejia is a bilingual storybook for children with a good moral. It's a beautiful story where a teacher brings together two friends, irrespective of their color and background. Vanilla and Chocolate are good friends in school and they like to play together in recess. Vanilla's parents decide to stop sending him to school for the reason that they do not want him to play with Chocolate. The teacher decides to organize a 'Black and White Family Day' for students and parents in the park where Vanilla and Chocolate used to play. Will Vanilla's parents be able to see the bond between the two boys and let them play together? Will they finally accept Chocolate as Vanilla's friend?

The book is perfect to read out in classrooms and school libraries because of its message, and parents and grandparents can use it for bedtime story telling. Stories that convey a message, a moral, a good concept and new ideas are perfect for kids because the best way to educate them is through a story. This story captures the attention of young readers and teaches them to be tolerant of others. The illustrations complement the author's thoughts and words, and give clarity to the story. The pictures also breathe life into the characters. The author teaches tolerance and acceptance in a very simple and easy manner, making a difficult concept easy for kids to comprehend. An excellent storybook for kids that teaches them strong messages.
