"52 Weeks of Non-Stop Bliss" is the kind of book that would make a good gift from one friend to another. Written by Terri L. Cunkle, it provides what it proclaims to be “activities sure to bring joy back into the lives of the super busy.” Being super busy, I was intrigued enough to want to read the book to find out how to get some of my joy back.

While there is probably not anything in the book that we super busy don’t already know we should be doing, it is written in such a way, in small increments, that it makes these activities seem more doable. Because it gives 52 activities, one per week, and not 365 activities, one per day, it seems much more capable of being achieved. Weekly suggested activities include watching a silly movie, thanking someone, feeding the birds, dancing your butt off, and touring old buildings. Among the many fun ones was Week 43: Eat Food You Haven’t Eaten Since Childhood. Cunkle suggests that eating comfort food that perhaps your mom or grandma made for you would bring you comfort and fond memories of your youth. Her suggestions included chicken noodle soup, tuna noodle casserole, macaroni and cheese with cut up hot dogs in it, and dumplings.

I like how the author included a blank note page after each week’s suggested activity for the reader to make notes, brainstorm, reflect, or journal about the activity. The note page makes it seem more like a workbook. It implies that you need to DO something, which is the whole point. Good book.
