Each child is unique and beautiful just the way they are. It is important for parents to help children learn to accept themselves and not compare themselves to others. It all begins with children developing positive self-esteem, and viewing themselves in a positive light by seeing why their internal beauty is as essential as their external. Getting your child a copy of this beautifully illustrated children’s book, A Dandelion Named Daisy by Angela Fincham, helps to remind preschoolers of how special they are just like Daisy later discovered. Daisy would consistently compare herself to the other flowers in the field, feeling that they were not only beautiful but unique, until one day she understood what made her beautiful. This self-discovered beauty within herself allowed Daisy not only to stand amongst the others with pride but also tap into and believe in herself.
A wonderful book, A Dandelion Named Daisy by Angela Fincham is not only well written but is a simple story. The story will take children on a journey into the life of Daisy’s self-discovery. Children will see the pathway that Daisy took to arrive at her acceptance of who she is. Within her bumpy ride, she went from self-doubt and negative self-talk to being enlightened by seeing the important role that she played in the field amongst the other flowers. This book is a great source for children to read as a beginner, at bedtime, share with a friend, or whenever they need an emotional boost. Make sure that you add this book to your library.
