A Gentle Whisper by Kirthana J. Fanning and Ellen Kolman is a simply delightful Christian children's picture book. Eli's grandma is on her way to his house for a month-long visit, and he knows they will have a lot of fun together. Eli loves to pray out loud. Each day spent with his grandma is a joyful adventure to remember. One day, his grandma hurt herself. Eli prays for her and believes she will be fine the next day. However, when his grandma is still not ready for a new adventure, Eli wonders why God doesn't answer his prayers. Yet, his grandma reminds him of Elijah, the prophet in the Bible, and assures him that God always answers everyone's prayers, though not always as we might expect. Fortunately, Eli soon discovers that God answered all his prayers in a more gentle way than he expected.
A Gentle Whisper by Kirthana J. Fanning and Ellen Kolman is a heartwarming, adorable, and thoughtful children's book about prayers, how God answers them, and the importance of patience. It teaches young readers to be grateful, that God always hears and answers prayers, that quiet activities are also fun, and that they sometimes must be calm and quiet to hear God's whisper. This story features lovely illustrations by Rick Tyler and a helpful quiz that helps you discover what kind of listener you are. I wholeheartedly recommend it, as it encourages kids to keep praying, keep trusting, and keep their hearts open. It is for every Christian family with children and Sunday school classes, and it also makes a lovely Christian gift for baby showers or baptisms.
