There is a special power within the hearts of pets. A popular saying is that pets leave paw prints on our hearts. It is very true. But sometimes they do more than just that. One magical Dalmatian puppy had the power to heal and to help others in difficulty. On his journey to find his special girl, before it’s too late, he loses his spots, one at a time, magical spots that help. With only one spot left, he returns to his girl, just in time to heal her from cancer before he must return to home to heaven.

Onta Jean Allen’s story, A Healing Spot, is a touching story about the power of love, not just between a girl and her dog, but between all living creatures. And this love has to power to change just about anything and to heal even the most dreadful diseases like cancer. The story begins with a young girl whose cancer is slowly ebbing away her life. The family tries everything to help her, but it’s the surprise appearance of a special Dalmatian puppy, whom they name Spot, that changes everything. That is, until his rambunctious, curious nature takes him on a very exciting journey away from his girl, only to return just in time, with just one last spot, a magical spot just for her. The plot and the characters are well developed with care and with compassion. The author leads the reader through one dog’s journey of love, making a very valid point about the true meaning of life: love and sacrifice. Beautifully told. Very touching story.

A Healing Spot is an inspirational Christian novella written by Onta Jean Allen. Robert and Nadine had moved their little family to San Francisco to enable their seriously ill eight-year-old daughter to have access to a special facility that seemed to offer hope for a cure. Robert’s boss had told him about St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital in San Francisco; his own niece had been successfully treated there. The family moved into a house that was located near to the hospital and were just getting comfortable in their new environment when something strange happened.

Someone had left a basket at the front door. The family had heard the doorbell ring as they were finishing their breakfast, but no one was there, just a woven basket that seemed to be rustling as Mr. Johnson looked down at it. He moved the Native American-themed blanket and discovered a puppy nestled within its folds. Emma and her brother, Jason, shouted in delight at the sight of that little spotted puppy. Mrs. Jordan instantly declared that they weren’t keeping that dog, but Emma said he had been sent by an angel, that she had been praying for a puppy. Emma gathered up the little pup in her arms and took her puppy away with her. She named him Spot, and he became her devoted friend. Miracles, it seemed, and healing do happen.

Onta Jean Allen’s inspirational Christian novella, A Healing Spot, is an endearing and sweet story that will appeal to animal lovers of all ages and creeds. Allen’s story highlights the healing power of love as this most exceptional pup recognizes need and gives solace to all who encounter him. I loved this story that shows the power of the unconditional devotion animal companions give their human caregivers. Allen also gives recognition to the St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital in San Francisco, a facility that has done so many wonderful things to make sick children’s lives better. While listed as Christian fiction, A Healing Spot will resonate with anyone who loves animals. It’s most highly recommended.

A Healing Spot by Onta Jean Allen is an enchanting tale, almost as magical as its canine protagonist, a Dalmatian who is, of course, named Spot. Now, let’s face it, those of us who love dogs or have one as a pet know they are magical. After all, they can turn tears into laughter and at times be a greater comfort to us than our human friends and family when we are suffering. They have some innate sense that we need them nearby.

And that’s how it is with Spot. When he is left as a puppy on the Jordan family’s steps, Spot immediately knows it’s 8-year-old Emma who has leukemia who needs him most. His positive effect on her is magical. But rascal that he is, when he gets lost chasing a rabbit, desperately hungry he is welcomed into Janie’s home. Janie has cerebral palsy and uses a wheelchair to get around. Just as Spot did with Emma, he enchants Janie’s family. But he hasn’t forgotten Emma and knows he must get back to her. Before he takes off to find his way back home, he leaves one of his spots on Jane’s face. What happens to Jane when she realizes Spot’s gone? It’s magical!

Spot eventually reunites with the Jordan family but along the way, he finds folks who need his spots and makes sure he leaves one with them. He’s a bit like an angel sprinkling magic stardust wherever it can help someone. Once back home with Emma, he has almost no spots left except the unusual red heart spot in his brow. He gives that very special spot to Emma before he leaves again. Why didn’t he stay with Emma? Where did he go? Read A Healing Spot to learn how not just Spot, but each of us has a healing spot inside us. A beautifully true message in a magical story.
