Author Biography

J. Hernandez has loved strange and thought-provoking stories since he was a kid. Growing up watching The Twilight Zone and The Outer Limits, he became fascinated with stories that could begin one way and completely surprise you by the end.

In high school, his English teacher, Ms. Romero, encouraged his creative writing and pushed him to think a little deeper about the stories he wanted to tell. That encouragement stayed with him throughout the years.

Years later, that love of storytelling eventually led to Tales Within the Dark, a collection created alongside his wife and co-author, B. Hernandez. His stories often focus on ordinary people finding themselves in situations that gradually become anything but ordinary.

Outside of writing, he enjoys movies, creative projects, traveling with his wife, spending time with family and finding new ways to bring stories to life.

Are you ready to be scared 25 times? An anthology of scary stories with wonderful twists at the end, which is the stuff of nightmares, is ready for you. Inside the pages you’ll meet a bus driver with an evil hobby, trees that come to life, and the reaper’s family. Along the way you’ll check into a haunted hotel room, have vivid dreams that are so much more, and get involved in the best kind of cold case. By the end you’ll have encountered a zombie apocalypse (or is it?), met a grieving daughter not ready to let go, and gone into a sewer tunnel that you may never emerge from. If this all sounds like your kind of read, get your hands on J. & B. Hernandez’s Tales Within the Dark.

Authors J. & B. Hernandez share a love for storytelling and have curated their favorite stories together in this anthology. Some stories are based on true events—after all, truth is stranger than fiction—and others come from tales they’ve been told or snippets of conversations overheard. Every story has either a dead person front and center, or else one or more people die by the end. The tales really are from within the dark and will appeal to all lovers of horror fiction. Tales Within the Dark offers scary stories, each with a twist at the end that you may or may not see coming.
