Author Rob Vogel presents an enthralling collection of poetry and poetic narratives in A Horizon Filled with Nebelous Clouds. Poetry aficionados will love that all these poems vary in structure and style, ranging from sonnets to observational and introspective pieces that really make you think about the world around you. "Isolation" sheds light on the thoughts of someone who prizes solitude and finds joy in silence and hidden pleasures. In "Moon," the narrator pushes the boundaries of their imagination in their dreams on a full moon night. The narrator dreams of a memorable summer in "Thoughts of Summer." In "Living But Not Alive," the narrator shares their hopes and insecurities, seeking understanding of someone they care for. "Men" explores the mysterious nature of women's hearts and the lengths men will go to win their favor.
Most of the poems in A Horizon Filled with Nebelous Clouds are about our everyday life experiences. Rob Vogel's poetry is intimate, and it's clear that the author draws inspiration from his own life experiences as well as French and Italian medieval poetry styles. However, many of the topics in these poetic narratives cover the human experience. This is why I think readers will find it easy to resonate with these universal themes. Vogel focuses a lot on natural surroundings and the environment that influences how we feel in particular moments. I liked how the poems about the seasons of the year have varied tones and evoke different emotions in the reader. I also think that the structural variety of the verses will interest dedicated poetry enthusiasts. Highly recommended.
