Hope and her young son, Jake, are on a journey around the country, taking in the sights and learning as they go. Hope is homeschooling Jake as they travel. In reality, they’re running away. At least Hope is. When the car breaks down and requires extensive and very expensive repairs, the two are welcomed into Dottie’s bed and breakfast where Hope takes on extra chores to help Dottie and to pay for her expensive car repairs. She doesn’t expect to fall in love, not just with the community that welcomes her and Jake with open arms, but also with one of Dottie’s sons. But that’s what happens in a comfort romance in a quaint little town in the days leading up to Christmas.
Tammy L. Grace’s short novel, A Season for Hope: A Christmas Novella, is a comfortable romance set in the small Nevada town of Silver Falls. The time, set from Thanksgiving until Christmas, charms the reader as the plot develops around a caring community that would not only welcome a stranger with open arms, but also help them without asking any questions. Hope and her son are overwhelmed by the trusting nature of this small community and the care that is extended to them during their stay, which stretches out longer than Hope anticipated. And, when her secret leaks, the reason why she and Jake are mysteriously driving all over the country, she fears for not only her safety, but also that of her son. A simple, sweet romance set in a caring community of strangers.
