A Steamy Steampunk Cruise by Marina Peters is a sizzling short story romance about Monica, the auditor on a cruise to New York. Monica is not looking forward to working this Steampunk cruise, but she ends up making the most of it when she meets Pedro, a writer aboard the ship. Things between them move quickly as Monica and Pedro get to know each other, and their short summer fling intensifies. There is heat between the two, and they are not afraid to show one another how they feel. However, there are secrets among members of the crew; dangerous secrets that could end up ruining this fun trip for everyone.

This novella is the perfect read for summer. I devoured A Steamy Steampunk Cruise in less than a day, and I could not be more impressed! The book was full of both steamy passion and intense action, giving it the perfect mix of romance and suspense. I was sad to see the story end, and I wish that Monica and Pedro's story could have continued. Although the book was short, Marina Peters did a great job of developing both the plot and characters in a way that felt smooth and coherent. Nothing about the story felt rushed, and it made me happy to read such a well-written and fun story. Writing effective novellas can be difficult at times, but this author nailed it. I would highly recommend this book if you are looking for a quick yet exciting romance read!

Suspenseful mystery and a spicy vacation

Monica meets sexy Brazilian Pedro in line to board a steampunk-themed cruise where she'll be performing an audit in hopes of uncovering the cause for missing funds. There's light flirtation, chemistry and playful banter between these two and their attraction grows. For Monica, there's also plenty of intrigue as she conducts her audit, prescription pharmaceuticals are stolen and she feels as though someone is following her.

I've read in the steampunk genre before, sometimes disappointed with the lack of steampunk details. The author, Marina Peters, did not disappoint. "The whole ship was plunged into the initial industrial spirit and, although I doubt that these things really have any kind of functionality, everything looks so romantic and full of emotion it's hard to not feel excited." I think that line sums up perfectly why I'm drawn to steampunk. This novella was spicy and suspenseful and would make a diverting vacation read.
